The Colorado State Land Board is taking a big step forward in supporting sustainable land management with the addition of Jesse Price as the agency’s first Regenerative Agriculture Manager. As of February 3, Jesse has stepped into this newly created role to work closely with agricultural lessees across the state, helping to implement regenerative grazing and crop production strategies that enhance soil health, improve land value, and create economic opportunities for producers.
A Leader in Regenerative Agriculture
Jesse brings a deep well of experience to this position, both as a producer and as a dedicated resource specialist. Since moving to Colorado in 2013, he has actively managed rangelands in southeastern Colorado as a cattle producer in Otero County. His firsthand knowledge of Colorado’s landscapes, combined with a strong academic background, makes him a valuable resource for the state’s agricultural community.
Jesse is a 2024 graduate of the Ranching for Profit School, a prestigious program focused on sustainable ranching practices. His experience also includes an agricultural economics internship with the Noble Foundation and a double major in AgriBusiness and Animal Science from Oklahoma Panhandle State University. Many lessees may already be familiar with Jesse from his previous role as a Resource Specialist with the State Land Board, where he has been a dedicated partner to agricultural operators.
Partnering with Lessees for a Sustainable Future
In his new role, Jesse will work one-on-one with lessees on a voluntary basis to explore regenerative practices that suit their operations. By promoting soil health, biodiversity, and resilient grazing strategies, he aims to help lessees not only sustain but also enhance the productivity of state trust lands for future generations.

The Colorado State Land Board is excited about this new chapter and looks forward to seeing the positive impact of Jesse’s leadership in regenerative agriculture!
