Stewardship Action Plans

A Stewardship Action Plan (SAP) is an adaptive management plan prepared by staff that describes the board’s comprehensive vision, objectives, strategies, and best management practices for responsible stewardship of a particular important target plant and/or animal species occurring at a landscape scale on numerous, non-contiguous state trust lands.

The Greater Sage Grouse SAP was adopted by our board in 2016.

SAPs are planned for Gunnison Sage Grouse, Lesser Prairie Chicken, Extreme Rich Fens, and Piedmont Grassland.

View the drafted Lesser Prairie Chicken SAP. We welcome our lessee's feedback on this plan. We hosted a virtual meeting with lessees on May 28, 2020, to discuss the drafted plan and hear feedback. Listen to the recording of that meeting. Contact Mindy Gottsegen at if you would like to submit additional feedback. We will be presenting the plan to our board at the June 10, 2020, meeting
